Who is the Danish Refugee Council?
The Danish Refugee Council is a private humanitarian organisation working independently of the authorities. Our purpose is to help refugees and asylum seekers, and to ensure durable solutions to their problems, in Denmark as well as internationally.
Assistance for asylum seekers
The Danish Refugee Council’s Asylum Counselling offers assistance to all asylum seekers in Denmark. We answer questions about the asylum procedure, the Danish Aliens Act, the rules on deportation and the regulations in the Dublin regulation.
Knowledge about refugees’ conditions and rights
Our assistance is based on updated knowledge about refugees’ conditions and rights as well as the areas they’re fleeing from. Furthermore, our legal department has thorough knowledge about procedures, rules and how they are practiced in Denmark and internationally.
If you are not satisfied with our counselling
Our ambition is to offer counselling at the highest professional level and we always strive to improve the quality of the counselling.
Therefore you have a possibility to send a complaint.
If you are not satisfied with our counselling or guidance with regard to your asylum case then you can send a motivated complaint to The Danish Refugee Council. You may for instance be dissatisfied with the behaviour of the counsellor, the quality of the interpreter during a counselling-session with the presence of an interpreter, the settings of the counselling or you may find that the counselling was not correct.
Please note that The Danish Refugee Council does not have the competence to make decisions in your asylum case and we can decide not to action in your case if we do not find it legally possible to request the Danish Refugee Board or other authorities to re-open your case.
The motivated complaint should be send to The Danish Refugee Council, Borgergade 10, 3. sal, 1300 København K or by email to advice@drc.dk – subject: Complaint - Asylum.
The complaint will normally be handled by the head of department within 2 weeks, and you will receive a written answer.
