In 2011, the Diaspora Project funded 14 projects. Common for all projects are that they were designed and managed by a Somali or Afghan Diaspora organisation based in Denmark and have been implemented in collaboration with a local partner organisation in Somalia or Afghanistan. DRC is monitoring projects in Somalia, while projects in Afghanistan are monitored by DACAAR. DRC funds 80% of the project budgets while the remaining 20% is funded via the Danish diaspora organisation and a local own contribution.
