Help to women in Myanmar

Woman to Woman is the name of a partnership between Saint Tropez and the Danish Refugee Council. The programme raises money for climate driven women in Myanmar who lost everything when the cyclone Nargis hit their country in May 2008.

Two years after the disaster
About 450.000 families in the south eastern part of Myanmar lost their homes, all their personal belongings, their tools and livelihood opportunities. Today two years after the disaster, many people are still suffering and there is a hugh need for help to Nargis’ victims. Help that can enable them to take charge of their own life by having an income for themselves and a school for their children.

Support to a woman means help to the whole family
Through the Woman to Woman partnership Saint Tropez and Danish Refugee Council is able to offer the climate driven women a grant that enables them to establish a livelyhood and to provide for their families. Because helping a woman means help to the whole family. The women who participate in the Woman to Woman need help to reconstruct their lives. All the women live in the south eastern Myanmar in the Labutta Township in the Irrawaddy delta where the cyclone caused most damaged.

Training, tools and materials
The women who participate in Woman to Woman are offered training and support to start and run a small business that enables them to provide for their families. After the training every woman gets a starting kit with basic tools and materials for the upstart of her business. The Woman to Woman training includes a sewing course and a sewing machine and fabrics to women who want to start a small sewing or textile business.

Saint Tropez has designed at very special scarf – a Woman to Woman scarf. Every time the scarf is handed over the counter, Saint Tropez gives 6,5 euro to the climate driven women in Myanmar. The scarf will be released on the 12th of August and sold in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Spain, Holland, Switzerland and England.
