Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has launched on 20 July an emergency relief operation in Greater Beirut and Mount Lebanon areas.

The war and the destruction of houses have forced hundreds of thousands to leave their home and look for a safer place in other regions. Many have found a temporary shelter with relatives in schools and other public buildings. However their resources are very limited, and the continuation of the bombardments and the destructions of roads and bridges has made it very difficult for supplies to reach the inhabitants.

Together with local partners in Beirut, in the South and in Mount Lebanon, DRC has assessed the very urgent needs and has started distribution of emergency assistance as mattresses, food and hygiene items.

DRC is present in Lebanon since 2004 where it is conducting a protection and assistance mission for refugees and displaced.
DRC has released own funds to start this urgent assistance and is looking for support.
