'The New Africa’ is the theme for this year’s common national collection in Denmark. On 29 January 2011, the event will take place to raise funds for aid to be facilitated by the largest Danish aid organisations. With emergency relief and other aid activities in more than ten African countries, the Danish Refugee Council is one of the key players among the humanitarian agencies on the African continent.

Horn of Africa and Yemen
DRC has been working with Somalis and other displaced populations in Somalia since 1998. In 2008, DRC opened a new office in Yemen, to receive Somalis and other asylum seekers and migrants arriving on the Yemeni shores from Somalia and Djibouti.

West Africa
DRC has been in West Africa since 1998, working with displaced people in southeast Liberia. In 2006, a regional strategy was adopted, acknowledging the instability in Liberia’s neighbouring countries and thus the need for a regional approach.

East and Central Africa
