A staff member of the Danish Refugee Council has been reported missing in Grozny, Chechnya on Saturday.

40 year old Zarema Gaysanova, a staff member of the Logistics and Procurement Department, has been reported missing on Saturday. The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is currently investigating the information, but has so far no information indicating that there should be a relation between the alleged incident and Zarema’s employment with DRC.

“DRC is concerned about the alleged disappearance of Zarema, who is a longstanding colleague within DRC’s Logistic and Procurement Department and we hope for clarity of the situation as soon as possible,” says Ann Mary Olsen, Acting Head of the International Department of the Danish Refugee Council

The Danish Refugee Council has been carrying out a multi-sector assistance programme targeting displaced and conflict-affected population groups in Chechnya since 1997. DRC is a non-governmental humanitarian organisation.
