Advisory boards for Somalia and Afghanistan provide input and advice on project selection and implementation of the fund. The advisory boards for Somalia and Afghanistan respectively consist of 4 members from the diaspora, 1 representative from DRC for Somalia and DACAAR for projects in Afghanistan, 1 representative from “Projektrådgivningen”, and the DRC project coordinator. The project coordinator acts as the advisory board’s secretariat.
The role and mandate of the DRC Diaspora Fund’s Advisory Boards:
- Recommend applications for approval or rejection
- Provide input and advice on overall implementation and budgeting issues relating to the DRC Diaspora Fund
- Discuss and provide recommendations for adjustment of criteria and guidelines based on cases from the ongoing implementation
- Ensure transparency towards the Danish diaspora in regard to all matters, e.g. by informing interested members of the diaspora about news on progress
- Provide recommendations in case of problems with the overall implementation or handling of funds
